Senior Superintendent and Superintendent II | Commercial Construction | Wilmington, NC
A leading commercial construction contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Superintendent to oversee the successful delivery of complex construction projects throughout the Wilmington, NC market. This is a local position with no travel requirements, offering the opportunity to lead marquee projects while maintaining strong relationships with local clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on field leader who thrives on driving schedules, ensuring quality, maintaining a culture of safety, and mentoring the next generation of construction professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary on-site leader for commercial construction projects from mobilization through final completion.
- Develop, manage, and drive the project CPM schedule and short-term look-ahead schedules.
- Lead daily operations and coordinate all subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
- Conduct weekly coordination, scheduling, and pre-installation meetings to ensure project milestones are achieved.
- Maintain the highest standards of safety, quality, and jobsite organization.
- Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to proactively address field challenges and maintain project momentum.
- Monitor subcontractor performance, manpower, equipment, and material deliveries to ensure schedule compliance.
- Coordinate inspections, permits, punch list activities, and project closeout requirements.
- Partner closely with Project Managers to manage execution strategies, logistics planning, and overall project success.
- Develop and mentor Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, and other field staff while fostering a positive, team-oriented culture.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 7-10+ years of commercial construction experience, including leadership of large-scale projects.
- Proven experience managing complex commercial, healthcare, multifamily, education, industrial, or mixed-use developments.
- Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, scheduling, safety standards, quality control, and building codes.
- Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and industry-standard construction technologies.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Valid driver's license required.
