Sales Estimator
Position Overview
The Sales Estimator is responsible for assessing loss sites, preparing accurate and competitive repair and remediation estimates, and converting leads into customers. This role combines technical estimating, industry knowledge of restoration and mitigation, and consultative sales skills to ensure profitable, timely project wins and high customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections to assess damage and scope of work for restoration, remediation, and water mitigation projects.
- Prepare detailed, accurate estimates using industry standard estimating tools (e.g., Xactimate) and organizational pricing guides.
- Develop professional proposals and scope documents; present estimates and explain repair options to customers, insurance adjusters, and partners.
- Qualify leads and drive the sales process from initial contact through close, meeting revenue and conversion targets.
- Coordinate with operations, project managers, and technicians to confirm feasibility, timelines, and resource needs.
- Maintain timely entry and tracking of estimates, job status, and customer communications in the CRM system.
- Respond to requests for bids and manage competitive pricing strategies while protecting margin and ensuring quality work.
- Follow industry best practices and regulatory requirements for safety, documentation, and claims handling.
- Conduct post-sale handoffs and assist in ensuring a smooth transition to production and billing.
- Participate in business development activities, including client relationship building and referral generation.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of estimating or sales experience in the restoration, remediation, or water mitigation industry (or closely related construction field).
- Proven sales ability with a track record of closing jobs and meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
- Proficiency with estimating software (Xactimate preferred) and strong competency in Excel and standard office software.
- Working knowledge of restoration/remediation processes, building construction, materials, and water mitigation techniques.
- Experience interacting with insurance adjusters and familiarity with claims documentation and processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills; customer-focused and consultative approach.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Valid drivers license, reliable transportation, and ability to perform site visits in varied conditions.
- IICRC certifications (e.g., WRT, ASD, AMRT) or other relevant certifications preferred but not required.
