Trial Attorney

Position Overview
We are seeking a results-oriented Trial Attorney to lead and participate in complex litigation and courtroom trials. The Trial Attorney will manage case development from intake through trial, draft pleadings and motions, conduct discovery, prepare witnesses, and advocate effectively in court. This role requires strong trial experience, poise under pressure, and the ability to collaborate with associates, clients, and expert witnesses to achieve favorable outcomes.
 
Compensation: $225k base (1st year) - $420k base (7th year) + Bonuses ($20k - $115k)

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all phases of litigation including case evaluation, strategy development, discovery, motions practice, and trial preparation and presentation.
  • Conduct trials in state and federal courts, including jury selection, direct and cross-examination of witnesses, and delivering opening statements and closing arguments.
  • Draft and respond to pleadings, motions, briefs, settlement agreements, and other litigation documents with attention to persuasive legal writing and procedural compliance.
  • Handle depositions, document review, e-discovery processes, evidentiary preparation, and coordinate with experts and consultants.
  • Counsel clients on litigation strategy, risks, settlement alternatives, and realistic case outcomes; maintain clear, responsive client communication.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train junior attorneys and paralegals; delegate tasks and review work product to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Collaborate with business development teams to support client intake, pitch work, and grow practice areas; maintain professional relationships and cultivate new client opportunities.
  • Stay current on governing law, procedural rules, and emerging litigation trends; participate in continuing legal education and firm initiatives to refine trial techniques and legal knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or LL.M from a T14 law school REQUIRED and active admission to The California State Bar.
  • Proven experience as an Associate or Attorney with demonstrable courtroom experience and successful trial work; significant trial-level exposure is required.
  • Strong trial skills, including testimony preparation, witness examination, courtroom presence, and persuasive advocacy.
  • Excellent legal research, analytical reasoning, and high-quality written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage heavy caseloads, meet deadlines, and handle complex factual and legal issues independently.
  • Experience supervising junior attorneys and working effectively in team-based litigation matters.
  • Comfortable with travel and court appearances in multiple jurisdictions as needed.
