Position Overview
Lead on-site management of railroad track construction and maintenance projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely completion. The Superintendent oversees crews, coordinates with stakeholders and contractors, enforces quality and regulatory standards, and manages schedules, materials, and equipment to deliver durable track infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct track construction and maintenance crews, subcontractors, and daily field operations to meet project schedules and quality standards.
• Develop, execute, and monitor work plans, schedules, and resource allocation for track installation, repair, and demolition activities.
• Enforce safety protocols and regulatory compliance, including FRA regulations, Roadway Worker Protection (RWP), and site-specific safety plans; conduct toolbox talks and safety inspections.
• Inspect track, ballast, ties, rail, switches, and associated components to identify defects and ensure work meets engineering and company specifications.
• Coordinate logistics for materials, equipment, and personnel, including heavy equipment (e.g., tampers, ballast regulators, excavators) and track-handling machinery.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, rail operators, and clients to resolve technical issues, adjust schedules, and communicate progress.
• Manage on-site documentation including daily reports, timecards, equipment logs, incident reports, and as-built records.
• Oversee demolition and repair work related to track structures, roadway crossings, and ancillary infrastructure when required.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate crew supervisors and laborers; enforce productivity, quality, and conduct standards.
• Assist in estimating labor, equipment, and material needs for change orders and project closeout; help control project costs and minimize downtime.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of heavy civil or railroad track construction experience, with at least 2 years in a superintendent or supervisory role.
• Demonstrated expertise in Railroad, Construction, and Maintenance of track systems, including track laying, tie replacement, rail welding, and ballast management.
• Strong knowledge of track standards, FRA regulations, and Roadway Worker Protection practices; experience with track inspection protocols and quality assurance.
• Proven leadership skills: ability to supervise multiple crews, manage subcontractors, and maintain crew productivity and morale.
• Hands-on familiarity with demolition, repair, and track rehabilitation techniques; experience with Tracks, Rail Track, and Railroad Track projects is preferred.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills to liaise with engineers, rail operators, clients, and regulatory authorities.
• Proficient in site documentation, reporting, and basic project administration; comfortable using mobile reporting tools and MS Office.
• Valid drivers license required; commercial drivers license (CDL) preferred. Certifications such as First Aid/CPR, flagging certification, or RWP certification are desirable.
• Physical ability to work outdoors in varying conditions, lift heavy materials, and travel to multiple job sites as needed.
• Nice-to-have: background as a Superintendent or Supervisor on rail projects, experience with demolition activities, track repair specialties, and familiarity with specialized track equipment and maintenance practices.
