Project Manager

Project Manager - Data Center Mechanical & Construction

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead mechanical and construction projects for data center facilities. The role is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering complex mechanical scopes including HVAC, process piping, and plumbing while managing budgets, schedules, quality and safety. The Project Manager will coordinate multidisciplinary teams and contractors, engage with clients and stakeholders, and ensure projects meet technical, regulatory, and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, budgets and resource forecasts from initiation through closeout.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional project teams including mechanical engineers, site supervisors, contractors and subcontractors for HVAC, process piping and plumbing scopes.
  • Manage procurement and subcontractor selection, contracts, scope control, and lead regular performance reviews.
  • Oversee construction activities to ensure work complies with design documents, codes, standards and project specifications; perform regular site inspections and progress assessments.
  • Drive commissioning and turnover activities for mechanical systems, ensuring operational readiness and documentation completeness.
  • Monitor project financial performance, manage change orders, mitigate cost overruns and identify value engineering opportunities.
  • Identify, assess and mitigate project risks; implement corrective actions and contingency plans to maintain schedule and budget.
  • Serve as the primary client and stakeholder contact for project status, technical decisions, and issue resolution; prepare and present regular progress reports.
  • Enforce safety, quality and environmental standards on site; lead safety meetings and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety programs.
  • Maintain thorough project documentation including submittals, RFIs, permits, test records and as-built information; manage closeout and lessons learned.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by capturing best practices, process improvements and performance metrics.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of project management experience in mechanical construction, with at least 3 years managing data center projects or other mission-critical facilities.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of HVAC systems, process piping, plumbing and mechanical system installation and commissioning.
  • Proven experience managing construction contracts, subcontractors, procurement and change management.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, local building codes) and strong quality control practices.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (MS Project, Primavera P6 or similar), and familiarity with CAD/BIM processes.
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to lead diverse teams and make decisions under pressure.
  • Solid financial acumen including budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Construction Management certification or equivalent is a plus.
  • OSHA 30, Safety certifications, and willingness to travel to job sites as required.
