Project Manager
Position Overview
We are seeking a results-driven Project Manager to lead civil construction projects with a focus on K-12, Healthcare, VDOT, Industrial and commercial work. The role is responsible for end-to-end project delivery, including management of wet and dry utilities, grading, budgets, schedules, subcontractors, permitting, and client/stakeholder communication. The successful candidate will ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining high quality and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution of civil construction projects.
- Manage installation and coordination of wet utilities (water, sewer, storm) and dry utilities (electric, telecom, gas) through design, permitting, construction, and closeout.
- Oversee grading, site preparation, erosion control, and earthwork activities to meet contract specifications and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams; select and manage subcontract agreements and track performance.
- Maintain project schedules and budgets; prepare and monitor cost reports, forecasts, and change order documentation.
- Serve as primary client and stakeholder contact for K-12 districts, owners, and design teams; communicate progress, risks, and mitigations.
- Implement quality control processes and conduct inspections to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and safety standards.
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation plans; manage claims and change management processes.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, permitting, and local jurisdictional requirements throughout project lifecycle.
- Prepare regular project reports, meeting minutes, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders, and support closeout and turnover activities.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of construction project management experience.
- Proven expertise managing wet utilities (water, sewer, storm) and dry utilities (power, telecom, gas) and grading/sitework.
- Demonstrated experience as a Project Manager overseeing budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and permit coordination.
- Strong knowledge of civil construction processes, plan reading, specifications, and construction methods.
- Excellent communication skills with experience coordinating with school districts, owners, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors.
- Track record of delivering projects on time and within budget, with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced field environments and conducting site inspections and progress meetings.
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel to project sites as needed; OSHA 30 certification and Procore experience are strongly preferred.
