Production Supervisor

Production Supervisor

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to lead day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensure safe and efficient production, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The Production Supervisor will manage a team of operators, coordinate schedules and resources, uphold quality and safety standards, and collaborate with engineering and quality teams to optimize processes and meet production targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor production teams, including scheduling, task assignment, performance coaching, and development.
  • Manage daily production activities to meet volume, quality, and on-time delivery targets while maintaining cost control.
  • Implement and sustain Lean manufacturing and Continuous Improvement practices (5S, Kaizen, standard work) to eliminate waste and improve efficiency.
  • Lead problem-solving and root cause analysis for production issues, applying Six Sigma tools where appropriate to reduce defects and variation.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations; conduct safety audits and enforce safe work practices.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and engineering to minimize downtime and support preventive maintenance programs.
  • Monitor production KPIs (yield, throughput, OEE, scrap rate) and generate regular reports to senior management.
  • Train and onboard new operators, develop work instructions, and maintain accurate production documentation and records.
  • Manage inventory levels and materials flow on the shop floor, escalating shortages and coordinating with supply chain as needed.
  • Support continuous improvement projects, facilitate cross-functional meetings, and implement process changes to increase capacity and quality.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience with Lean manufacturing principles and Continuous Improvement methodology.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma concepts and experience applying problem-solving tools (DMAIC, root cause analysis, SPC) is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and team development skills with a focus on coaching and performance management.
  • Proven ability to manage production metrics and KPIs, and to use data to drive decisions and improvements.
