Production Supervisor - Mid Shift
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to lead day-to-day operations in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. The Production Supervisor will ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production while meeting throughput targets and continuous improvement goals. This role requires strong leadership, practical knowledge of food production processes, and experience applying Lean and Six Sigma principles to improve performance and reduce waste.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate production activities to meet daily output, quality, and safety targets.
- Lead, coach, and develop production team members; assign tasks, manage shift schedules, and conduct performance feedback.
- Maintain compliance with food safety regulations (HACCP, GMP) and company quality standards.
- Implement and sustain Lean Manufacturing practices to reduce waste, improve flow, and increase efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Six Sigma tools and root-cause analysis to solve production issues.
- Monitor production KPIs (OEE, yield, downtime) and prepare shift reports for operations management.
- Coordinate maintenance, sanitation, and changeover activities to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.
- Support new product introductions and process changes, including training and documentation updates.
- Enforce workplace health and safety policies and lead incident investigations when required.
- Collaborate with supply chain, quality, and engineering teams to resolve production constraints and optimize throughput.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Food Science, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, or equivalent experience preferred.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience in food production or manufacturing environments.
- Practical knowledge of Food Production processes and regulatory requirements (HACCP, GMP, FSMA).
- Experience applying Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements.
- Proven team leadership skills with the ability to motivate diverse production teams and manage shift operations.
- Strong problem-solving skills, data-driven decision making, and familiarity with production KPIs (OEE, yield, downtime).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience training staff and documenting procedures.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends, and to stand for extended periods in a production environment.
- Proficiency with MS Office; experience with manufacturing execution systems (MES) or ERP systems is a plus.
Benefits
Annual salary: $60,000 - $65,000
