Production Supervisor | 3rd Shift
Position Overview
The Production Supervisor oversees daily manufacturing operations to deliver products safely, on time, and to quality standards. This role leads the production team on one or more shifts, drives continuous improvement and efficiency, ensures compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, and supports supervisory activities including scheduling, performance monitoring, and coordination of maintenance and repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily production activities on assigned shift(s), including scheduling, staffing, and ensuring production targets and delivery objectives are met.
- Lead, coach and develop production team members; conduct performance monitoring, provide feedback, and administer corrective action when needed.
- Ensure product quality by enforcing quality standards, overseeing in-process inspections, and supporting root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S, Kaizen) to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve yield and throughput.
- Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing safety policies, conducting safety walkthroughs, leading incident investigations, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance, repairs, and equipment installations with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and support production continuity.
- Manage production documentation including production records, shift reports, standard work, and changeover logs to ensure traceability and compliance with regulatory requirements and GMP.
- Monitor production metrics and KPIs, prepare shift and performance reports, and communicate results to operations leadership.
- Support workforce planning activities including hiring, onboarding, timekeeping, payroll inputs, and participation in job bidding or collective bargaining processes where applicable.
- Collaborate with planning, quality, maintenance and supply chain teams to resolve production issues, prioritize workloads, and meet delivery commitments.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Operations or Production Manufacturing preferred.
- Minimum 3+ years of manufacturing experience with at least 1+ years in a supervisory role overseeing production lines or shifts.
- Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing operations, quality systems, GMP, and regulatory requirements.
- Proven experience driving continuous improvement using Lean/Six Sigma tools, process improvement and performance metrics.
- Strong understanding of safety management and regulatory compliance (OSHA or equivalent) with a track record of maintaining safe workplaces.
- Experience with production planning, scheduling, meeting production targets, and managing daily operations.
- Familiarity with equipment operation, preventative maintenance, repairs and support for equipment installation.
- Experience in monitoring performance through metrics and KPIs, and using data to drive decisions and corrective actions.
- Excellent leadership, communication, coaching and conflict resolution skills; experience working with unionized workforces is a plus.
- Proficient with production documentation practices, shift reporting, timekeeping and payroll processes.
