Production Manager

Based in Wisconsin, we are a leading manufacturer in the premium pet nutrition space. We develop high-quality, minimally processed food and treats designed to help pets thrive. Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead and optimize manufacturing operations in a food production environment. The Production Manager will be responsible for ensuring safe and compliant production schedules. Driving continuous improvement and developing high-performing teams to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets. This role combines hands-on production leadership with strategic planning to support growth and maintain food safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and oversee daily production activities to meet production schedules, output targets, and customer delivery commitments.
  • Ensure full compliance with food safety regulations and quality standards 
  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators for yield, throughput, downtime, scrap, and on-time delivery; analyze performance data and drive corrective actions.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing, 5S, or Six Sigma principles
  • Manage production budgets, labor planning, and cost control measures while identifying opportunities to optimize resource utilization.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with supply chain, procurement, R&D, and quality teams to support new product launches, process changes, and raw material planning.
  • Prepare regular production reports and communicate status, risks, and improvement plans to senior management.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive production experience
  • Strong knowledge of food safety systems and regulatory requirements, and experience implementing compliance programs.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience developing teams, managing shift operations, and driving performance improvements.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills; comfortable using production management and reporting tools (ERP/MRP systems preferred).
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including shifts and occasional weekends; capable of standing, moving on the production floor, and wearing PPE as required.
  • Certifications in food safety, Lean/Six Sigma, or supervisory training are a plus.
