Founded in 1986, this privately held precision optics manufacturer employs approximately 10-50 employees company-wide, with the majority of its workforce based at its Fort Worth, Texas headquarters and manufacturing facility. The company specializes in the design, tooling, prototyping, and production of high-precision polymer optics, including Fresnel lenses, aspheric lenses, micro-optics, optical diffusers, and infrared optical components. The Fort Worth facility serves as the company's primary engineering, tooling, mold making, machining, and manufacturing center, supporting customers from initial concept through full-scale production. Industries served include security and motion sensing, LED and commercial lighting, machine vision, biomedical devices, imaging systems, defense-related applications, laser systems, and advanced optical technologies. In this role, you will build, repair, and maintain ultra-precision molds used to manufacture world-class optical components in a highly technical CNC-driven environment.
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Mold maker to join our 1st shift tooling team. This position is responsible for the construction, maintenance, repair, and optimization of high-precision molds used in the manufacturing of optical-grade polymer products. The ideal candidate will have strong mold making experience, excellent machining skills, and the ability to work within extremely tight tolerances in a precision manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, assemble, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain high-precision molds for optical manufacturing applications.
- Operate and utilize CNC machining equipment to manufacture and modify mold components to exact specifications.
- Perform precision fitting, spotting, polishing, and bench work to ensure optimal mold function and part quality.
- Partner with engineering and manufacturing teams to support new tooling projects, mold improvements, and process optimization.
- Maintain tooling documentation and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, reliability, and efficiency.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in high-precision mold making within an all-CNC manufacturing environment is required.
- CNC machining experience is highly preferred.
- Hard milling experience is preferred.
- Experience working with tight-tolerance tooling, precision measurements, and technical drawings is required.
- 5-axis machining experience is a strong plus.
