PLC Maintenance Technician

PLC Maintenance Technician
Location: Freeport, IL

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and control systems in an industrial manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for supporting production reliability through the maintenance of AC and DC electrical systems, control equipment, programmable control systems, and instrumentation. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, experience working with industrial electrical equipment, and the ability to read and interpret technical schematics

Key Responsibilities

  • Test, install, program, assemble, maintain, and repair electronic and electrical equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and related technical schematics.
  • Troubleshoot and repair variable voltage DC control systems, solid-state controllers, motor-generator (M-G) sets, and rectifiers.
  • Diagnose and maintain adjustable speed equipment, including magnetic amplifiers and SCR drives.
  • Work with microprocessor-based systems and programmable control systems.
  • Utilize gas torch equipment when required.
  • Install, test, and troubleshoot field instrumentation, including:
    • Thermocouples
    • RTDs
    • Pressure transducers
    • Load cells
    • Photoelectric sensors
    • Allen-Bradley components
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to repairs, maintenance activities, and equipment performance.
  • Follow all plant safety procedures and applicable electrical standards.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of industrial electrical maintenance or troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and control schematics.
  • Experience with programmable control systems and industrial instrumentation.
  • Card-carrying union industrial electrician experience is a plus. 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley controls and components.
  • Familiarity with industrial sensors, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
