Patent Agent for Patent Pros

Established (95+ Years) Premier Firm Seeking Patent Agent for Patent Prosecution in Westfield, New Jersey

An established firm based in Westfield, New Jersey with over 95 years in practice is seeking a Patent Agent with 3+ years of experience to join their team onsite. This role focuses on U.S. and international patent prosecution, supporting a sophisticated intellectual property practice and working closely with attorneys and clients on high-volume, high-quality patent matters.

Salary range: $140,000-$190,000+, contingent on experience

Qualifications
At least three years of hands-on patent prosecution experience in a law firm or in-house environment
Undergraduate or advanced degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or chemical engineering
Active registration before the USPTO as a Patent Agent
Ability to manage patent prosecution matters with minimal supervision
Strong drafting, analytical, and client communication skills
Experience working directly with inventors and technical teams

Responsibilities
Drafting and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications across a range of technologies
Preparing responses to office actions and examiner interviews
Conducting prior art searches and patentability analyses
Collaborating with attorneys to develop prosecution strategies aligned with client objectives

Managing multiple matters simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality expectations
