An established and growing mid-sized law firm with over 50 years in practice is seeking a Bankruptcy Senior Attorney/Partner with substantial experience to join its Bankruptcy and Restructuring Group.
This position is designed for an accomplished attorney with a portable book of business and significant experience handling debtor-side bankruptcy proceedings, Chapter 11 reorganizations, out-of-court restructurings, workouts, distressed business matters, and bankruptcy litigation. The successful attorney will have the opportunity to expand an existing practice while collaborating with attorneys across the firm's complementary practice groups.

Qualifications
- Substantial experience practicing bankruptcy, restructuring, creditors' rights, or related commercial law
- Portable book of business of at least $400,000, with the ability and desire to grow existing client relationships
- Significant debtor-side experience representing companies, business owners, and other stakeholders in financially distressed situations
- Demonstrated experience with Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, reorganizations, workouts, and out-of-court restructurings
- Ability to independently originate, manage, and oversee sophisticated bankruptcy and restructuring matters
- Strong federal bankruptcy court experience, including contested hearings, motion practice, negotiations, and case management
- Experience handling bankruptcy-related litigation, including preference actions, fraudulent transfer claims, claim disputes, and contested matters
- Established professional relationships within the bankruptcy, restructuring, financial, and business communities
- Excellent legal writing, negotiation, client counseling, business development, and oral advocacy skills
- Admission to the New York State Bar and good standing
- Admission to relevant federal district and bankruptcy courts preferred
- Commitment to collaboration, cross-marketing, mentoring, and contributing to the continued growth of the practice
Responsibilities
- Lead debtor-side bankruptcy and restructuring matters from initial engagement through confirmation, dismissal, sale, settlement, or other resolution
- Represent corporate debtors and distressed businesses in Chapter 11 proceedings and related contested matters
- Advise clients regarding restructuring alternatives, liquidity concerns, fiduciary obligations, operational challenges, and insolvency-related risks
- Develop and implement Chapter 11 strategies, including first-day relief, debtor-in-possession financing, asset sales, disclosure statements, plans of reorganization, and confirmation proceedings
- Negotiate with secured lenders, creditors' committees, landlords, vendors, investors, purchasers, and other stakeholders
- Manage out-of-court restructurings, loan workouts, forbearance agreements, distressed transactions, and consensual resolutions
- Handle bankruptcy litigation involving claims objections, avoidance actions, fraudulent transfers, preferences, executory contracts, leases, and related disputes
- Appear in federal bankruptcy court for hearings, conferences, oral arguments, evidentiary proceedings, and contested matters
- Originate, maintain, and expand client relationships while developing new business opportunities
- Collaborate with attorneys across the firm's litigation, corporate, real estate, tax, and other complementary practice groups
- Supervise and mentor associates and other legal professionals working on bankruptcy and restructuring engagements
- Maintain primary responsibility for client service, matter staffing, budgeting, billing, collections, and practice profitability
- Contribute to the strategic growth, visibility, and market presence of the Bankruptcy and Restructuring Group
