Paralegal

Paralegal for Plaintiff Personal Injury Litigation in Los Angeles, CA

An established plaintiff-side personal injury firm based in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Paralegal with 2+ years of litigation paralegal experience to join their litigation team onsite. This professional will work on plaintiff-side personal injury litigation, including truck accidents, traumatic brain injury, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, motorcycle, rideshare, and pedestrian matters, supporting attorneys from filing through trial while also providing leadership to legal assistants within the department.

Qualifications:

Minimum two years of litigation paralegal experience, preferably plaintiff-side personal injury
Strong working knowledge of California civil procedure, discovery rules, and state court filing requirements
Experience drafting complaints, discovery, deposition notices, subpoenas, and other litigation documents
Exceptional calendaring and deadline management skills
Independently manages multiple cases and competing priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience supervising or mentoring legal assistants
Paralegal certification preferred
Spanish-speaking ability preferred, not required

Responsibilities:

Drafts, files, and coordinates service of complaints and other litigation documents
Drafts and serves deposition notices
Prepares and serves subpoenas for non-party witnesses, treating providers, and other relevant parties
Prepares discovery requests and objections and assists attorneys with reviewing and finalizing discovery responses
Coordinates process service and tracks completion
Monitors answers, responsive pleadings, and entry of defaults
Provides trial preparation and support, including filing trial documents and coordinating witness and expert testimony scheduling
Prepares and files pleadings and other legal documents in compliance with court-specific and jurisdictional requirements
Maintains comprehensive case calendars and monitors statutes of limitation, hearing dates, discovery deadlines, and other procedural dates without exception
Communicates with court clerks and opposing counsel to facilitate case progression
Identifies and addresses procedural issues before they affect a case
Communicates directly and professionally with clients regarding case-related matters
Provides Spanish interpretation for Spanish-speaking clients when necessary
Assists attorneys with case preparation and settlement efforts
Anticipates attorney and case needs rather than waiting for assignments
Resolves issues involving clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and vendors
Supervises, mentors, and delegates assignments to the assigned legal assistant
Ensures delegated work is completed accurately and on time
Serves as a knowledgeable resource on litigation procedure, calendaring, filings, and case management
