Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Medical Malpractice Associate Attorney to join our litigation team. The associate will manage a complex caseload of medical malpractice matters, handle all phases of pretrial and trial practice, work closely with experts and clients, and advance the firms Healthcare Law practice through effective advocacy, strong legal analysis, and trial-ready preparation.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a docket of medical malpractice cases from intake through resolution, ensuring timely compliance with procedural deadlines and client communication
• Draft and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, pretrial orders, and settlement documents
• Conduct thorough legal research and factual investigation, including review and analysis of medical records and retention/coordination of expert witnesses
• Take and defend depositions, prepare witnesses, and develop trial strategy in collaboration with partners and senior counsel
• Handle court appearances, hearings, and motion practice; prepare and argue motions as appropriate
• Lead trial preparation and serve as lead or co-counsel at trial, including jury selection, opening and closing statements, and witness examination
• Negotiate settlements and mediations with opposing counsel, insurers, and clients while preserving client interests
• Supervise and mentor junior associates, paralegals, and support staff; coordinate with litigation support and case management teams
• Maintain accurate case files, billing records, and adhere to professional conduct rules and firm policies

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar in good standing
• 3+ years of litigation experience as an Associate Attorney with a primary focus on medical malpractice and Healthcare Law matters (trial experience required)
• Proven trial experience, including leading or co-counseling trials and conducting depositions
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex medical records and work effectively with medical expert witnesses
• Strong written and oral advocacy skills, excellent legal research ability, and professional courtroom presence
• Experience with case management systems, e-discovery tools, and litigation technology
• Excellent client-facing skills with the ability to counsel clients, manage expectations, and maintain confidentiality and ethical standards
• Ability to manage a heavy caseload, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines; willingness to travel for depositions and court appearances as needed
• Commitment to collaborative teamwork, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to business development and practice growth
