Mechanical Engineer
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and deliver mechanical systems for commercial and industrial projects. The successful candidate will lead HVAC and process piping design efforts, create coordinated 3D models, and support projects from concept through construction and commissioning while ensuring compliance with codes and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop HVAC systems, including load calculations, equipment selection, ductwork design, and control strategies.
- Develop process piping layouts and specifications for industrial systems, ensuring safe and efficient fluid handling.
- Create and maintain detailed 3D models and construction documents using Revit; produce coordinated drawings and schedules.
- Use Navisworks and other coordination tools to perform clash detection and resolve interdisciplinary conflicts.
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical specifications, and equipment data sheets; review submittals and vendor documentation.
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and contractors to ensure integrated design solutions.
- Support construction through site visits, progress reviews, commissioning activities, and resolution of field issues.
- Contribute to cost estimates, project schedules, and procurement support to meet budget and delivery targets.
- Apply mechanical codes and industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA) to ensure regulatory compliance and safe design.
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians, review design work, and promote best practices for quality and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Masters or advanced coursework a plus.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or working toward licensure.
- 3+ years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering with demonstrable HVAC and process piping experience; industrial, commercial, or utility project experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Revit for mechanical systems modeling and documentation.
- Experience with Navisworks for model coordination and clash detection.
- Strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards such as ASHRAE, SMACNA, ASME, and NFPA.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and other common engineering software; experience with BIM workflows.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required and participate in construction-phase support.
