Mechanical Engineer
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze, and support mechanical systems across commercial and industrial projects. The role focuses on developing HVAC and MEP solutions, creating and reviewing AutoCAD drawings, and collaborating with project teams to deliver efficient, code-compliant systems. The ideal candidate is proactive, safety-minded, and committed to quality engineering outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine mechanical system designs for HVAC, plumbing, and other MEP components using AutoCAD and engineering principles.
- Prepare calculations, equipment selections, and load analyses to ensure system performance and energy efficiency.
- Create and review detailed construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings; coordinate revisions with architects, contractors, and consultants.
- Perform site visits to observe installation progress, verify compliance with design intent, and resolve technical issues.
- Support project management activities including scheduling, cost estimation, and document control.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and best practices, and assist with permitting submittals.
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians, provide technical guidance, and participate in peer reviews.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical systems with structural, electrical, and architectural elements.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Masters preferred.
- EIT certification required; Professional Engineer (PE) license a plus.
- Proven experience (3+ years) designing HVAC and MEP systems for commercial or industrial projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and experience with mechanical design software and load calculation tools.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, ductwork, piping, equipment selection, and MEP coordination.
- Familiarity with building codes (e.g., ASHRAE, IMC, NEC) and permitting processes.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Willingness to perform site visits and travel to project locations as needed.
