Mechanical Engineer

Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and support manufacturing of precision mechanical systems and machine tools. The ideal candidate will apply engineering fundamentals to create robust designs, program and optimize CNC processes, produce detailed AutoCAD drawings, and ensure products and processes meet ISO quality and OSHA safety standards. This role collaborates across engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to drive continuous improvement from concept through production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, fixtures, and machine tool systems to meet functional, cost, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Create and maintain detailed 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD (and other CAD tools as needed), including tolerancing and material specifications.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and optimize CNC machining processes; collaborate with machinists to refine setups and reduce cycle times.
  • Lead prototype builds, testing, validation, and iteration of designs; perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables and manufacturing processes comply with ISO quality standards and OSHA safety regulations.
  • Support production ramp-up and provide technical guidance to shop floor personnel on machine tooling, fixtures, and maintenance best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives cost reduction, yield improvement, and equipment uptime using data-driven methods.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, work instructions, BOMs, and change notices; participate in design reviews and cross-functional meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical design and manufacturing, preferably with machine tools and CNC operations.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with CAD 3D tools (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar) is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of CNC programming and machining processes (milling, turning, broaching, etc.).
  • Familiarity with ISO quality standards and OSHA safety requirements; experience implementing compliance practices.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, material selection, tolerance analysis, and DFM/DFMA principles.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems, and experience conducting root-cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities; comfortable working directly with production teams and suppliers.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
