Salary (DOE): $80k-$125k

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Marine Superintendent to oversee marine construction, dredging, shoreline protection, and barge operations. The Marine Superintendent will lead site supervision, manage contractors, ensure regulatory compliance, and coordinate civil and erosion-control works to deliver safe, on-time, and on-budget projects along coastal and inland waterways.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide day-to-day on-site leadership and supervision of marine construction activities including dredging, shoreline stabilization, erosion control, and excavation.
• Plan, coordinate, and manage barge movements, marine plant, and equipment mobilization/demobilization to optimize project schedules and costs.
• Oversee quality control and acceptance testing for civil and marine works; ensure construction adheres to plans, specifications, and contract requirements.
• Develop and enforce site safety plans and environmental protection measures to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, clients, and regulatory agencies to resolve technical issues and maintain project communications.
• Monitor project progress, prepare daily/weekly reports, and maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and labor hours.
• Supervise subcontractors and on-site crews, performing performance evaluations and ensuring productivity and workmanship standards are met.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to tides, weather, and site-specific conditions; implement contingency plans to minimize delays.
• Review and provide input on project schedules, change orders, and cost control measures; recommend efficiencies and value-engineering solutions.
• Support procurement and inspection of marine-specific materials and equipment, including anchors, spuds, sheet pile, riprap, and dredging tools.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in marine construction or civil works, with at least 3 years in a superintendent or lead field role.
• Demonstrated experience with dredging operations, barge logistics, shoreline protection, erosion-control systems, excavating equipment, and marine construction methods.
• Strong knowledge of marine regulations, permitting processes, and environmental protection requirements applicable to coastal and inland waterways.
• Proven ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and survey data; familiarity with layout and surveying best practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills with experience supervising subcontractors and multi-discipline crews.
• Competency in project reporting, daily logs, cost tracking, and basic scheduling tools; familiarity with construction management software is a plus.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel between sites; certifications such as OSHA 30, TWIC, or BOSIET are highly desirable.
• Physical ability to perform field inspections in marine environments and work around heavy equipment and vessels safely.
• Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and the ability to make timely decisions under changing site and weather conditions.
