Job description
Title: Cost Engineer
Location: Sturgis, MI 49091
Salary: $80,000 - $85,000 DOE

As we continue to grow, we're seeking a Cost Engineer to lead design-to-cost initiatives, perform should-cost modeling, drive value engineering and cost reduction projects, analyze supplier cost structures, and support new product development efforts to optimize product and manufacturing costs.
What You Will Be Doing
- Lead Design-to-Cost initiatives for new product development projects, driving cost targets and tracking opportunities throughout the product lifecycle
- Develop should-cost models, cost estimates, and labor standards for new components and manufacturing processes to support accurate product costing
- Identify and execute Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives focused on reducing product costs, improving manufacturability, and increasing operational efficiency
- Partner with Procurement, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to evaluate supplier cost structures, support negotiations, and determine optimal manufacturing approaches
- Analyze costed BOMs, benchmark competitive products, and uncover cost reduction opportunities that support future product development and profitability goals
What You Need for This Position
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field, with manufacturing experience preferred
- Experience with cost modeling, engineering drawings, and manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of VAVE, cost reduction strategies, and product costing principles
- Proficiency with Excel, ERP systems (JD Edwards or similar), CAD, and PDM tools
