Maintenance Technician 3rd Shift

Maintenance Technician (3rd Shift)

Location: On-site in Garland, TX

Pay: $30-45 per hour 

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team on 2nd shift. The ideal candidate will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and automated systems to ensure reliable production operations. This role focuses on troubleshooting controls and equipment, implementing repairs, and supporting continuous improvement and safety initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on production machinery and plant systems during 2nd shift.
  • Diagnose and repair PLC and HMI issues, with emphasis on Allen-Bradley Logix 5000 platform and related control systems.
  • Work with variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor starters, 3-phase wiring, low-voltage controls, and power distribution components.
  • Maintain and repair conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, valves, pneumatic systems, and hydraulic systems to minimize downtime.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams to locate faults and implement solutions.
  • Perform welding and fabrication tasks as needed (MIG, ARC, TIG) to repair or fabricate machine components and guards.
  • Troubleshoot and repair sensors, actuators, pneumatic valves, and other process control devices.
  • Complete work orders, document repairs and parts used, and communicate shift handovers to 1st and 3rd shift teams.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement projects to increase equipment reliability and safety.
  • Follow lockout/tagout, confined space, and other safety procedures; maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certificate in industrial maintenance, electrical, or mechatronics preferred.
  • 3+ years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience on production equipment.
  • Proven experience with PLCs and HMIs, specifically Allen-Bradley Logix 5000 and associated programming/troubleshooting.
  • Strong electrical skills including 3-phase wiring, low-voltage controls, VFDs, and ability to read electrical schematics.
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience on conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, valves, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Welding experience (MIG, ARC, TIG) and basic fabrication skills.
  • Familiarity with controls, sensors, actuators, schematics, and industrial control concepts.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools, multimeter, clamp meter, and other diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
  • Good communication skills, ability to work independently on 2nd shift, and collaborate with maintenance and operations teams.
