Wage: $32-$36.50/hour depending on experience
Shifts available:
2nd shift (Monday-Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.)
3rd shift (Sunday-Thursday, 8:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.)
Position Overview
We are an established Fortune 500 company with a stable client base, and we are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician II to join our team on 2nd shift. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial equipment and systems in our Bedfor Park (Chicago) facility to ensure safe, reliable, and continuous production operations. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in industrial maintenance, a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, and the ability to work independently during night shifts.
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our industrial maintenance team. The primary purpose of this role is to ensure reliable operation of production equipment and facility systems through preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in industrial maintenance practices and the ability to work across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems while maintaining a strong focus on safety and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and routine inspections on production machinery, conveyors, motors, pumps, boilers and ancillary equipment to minimize downtime.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic failures; dismantle, replace, align and reassemble components as required.
- Troubleshoot and repair control systems including PLCs, VFDs and associated instrumentation; coordinate with controls technicians when complex programming changes are required.
- Execute corrective maintenance during production and planned shutdowns, including emergency response to minimize production impact.
- Perform welding and fabrication tasks (including MIG welding) as required to repair or modify equipment and guards.
- Support wastewater treatment system maintenance and boiler maintenance activities in accordance with regulatory and safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, spare parts usage and equipment history records using CMMS or manual systems.
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability and reduce costs.
- Adhere to safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and environmental and regulatory standards; report hazards and suggest safety improvements.
- Assist with inventory control of maintenance parts and order materials as needed; support contractor coordination for specialized repairs.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician and strong background in Industrial Maintenance (minimum 3 years preferred).
- Solid mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with industrial equipment, bearings, gearboxes, belts, chains and conveyor systems.
- Working knowledge of electrical systems, motors, starters, controls, and troubleshooting electrical faults.
- Familiarity with hydraulics and pneumatics including pumps, valves, cylinders and associated maintenance.
- Experience with PLCs, VFDs and basic instrumentation troubleshooting preferred.
- Experience or exposure to boilers and wastewater treatment system maintenance is a plus.
- Proficient welding skills, including MIG welding, and ability to perform basic fabrication and metalwork.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, able to prioritize repairs under production pressure and document repairs thoroughly.
- Comfortable working in an industrial production environment, able to lift heavy items and work at heights; flexible to shift work and call-in for emergencies.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., industrial maintenance certificate, electrical license, welding certification) and valid drivers license preferred.
- Strong communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional maintenance and production team.
