Position Overview
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating the facility maintenance team to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of industrial equipment and infrastructure. This role focuses on maintenance planning and execution, supervision of technicians, continuous improvement of maintenance practices, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate has strong experience in industrial maintenance and maintenance management and practical knowledge of electrical, hydraulics, boilers, pneumatics, wastewater treatment, welding, and mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and schedule a team of maintenance technicians, contractors, and subcontractors to deliver timely corrective and preventive maintenance.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize preventive maintenance programs and work order systems to maximize equipment uptime and lifespan.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and coordinate repairs for mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and boiler systems; oversee welding and fabrication as needed.
  • Manage spare parts inventory, tools, and maintenance budgets; track costs and recommend capital improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies; lead safety meetings and incident investigations.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate maintenance staff; develop skills through on-the-job coaching and formal training plans.
  • Coordinate with operations, engineering, and production teams to schedule maintenance with minimal disruption to production.
  • Oversee wastewater treatment equipment maintenance and regulatory recordkeeping where applicable.
  • Document maintenance activities, update equipment records, and produce reports on equipment performance and maintenance metrics.
  • Work with vendors and external service providers to secure technical support, parts, and specialized repairs.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Demonstrated experience with maintenance management practices, preventive maintenance programs, and work order systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical systems; practical experience with hydraulics, boilers, and pneumatics (nice-to-have but highly desirable).
  • Experience with wastewater treatment systems and related regulatory requirements is a plus.
  • Welding experience and familiarity with common welding processes and safety practices are desirable.
  • Post-secondary diploma or certificate in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or a related trade, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with reading electrical and mechanical schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills; ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, respond to emergency calls, and perform physical tasks when required.
