Job Title: Machine Shop Manager (Precision Machining)
Location: Livermore, CA on-site
Compensation: $110k-$140k/yr salary +benefits & performance bonus opportunity
Requirements: 8+ years in CNC Machining, 3+ years in Leadership/management/supervisor role management production teams of 10 or more people, GD&T, CAD/CAM, Aerospace defense or medical device manufacturing industry exp (AS9100/ISO9001)
Position Overview
A growing precision manufacturing company serving aerospace, defense, space, and medical industries is seeking an experienced Machine Shop Manager to lead daily operations across a multi-shift CNC machining environment.This is a hands-on leadership role focused on driving production performance, developing teams, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring exceptional quality standards. The ideal candidate has a strong CNC machining background combined with proven experience leading manufacturing teams in a high-precision environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of machinists, operators, and technical staff across multiple shifts
- Manage production schedules, capacity planning, staffing, and throughput
- Drive key metrics including on-time delivery, machine utilization, scrap reduction, and labor efficiency
- Ensure compliance with AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality standards
- Partner with Engineering, Quality, Programming, and Scheduling teams to support production goals
- Identify bottlenecks and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Promote a safe, accountable, and high-performance manufacturing culture
Qualifications
- 8+ years of CNC machining experience
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing production teams of 10+ employees
- Experience overseeing multi-machine, multi-shift manufacturing operations
- Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, GD&T, inspection methods, and precision manufacturing
- Working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 environments
Preferred but not required
- Aerospace, defense, medical device, or other highly regulated manufacturing experience preferred
- U.S. Person status required due to regulatory requirements
- AS/AA degree in Manufacturing Technology/Tooling preferred
