Personal Injury Litigation Attorney (Law & Motion Focus)
About the Opportunity
A growing California litigation practice is seeking a skilled attorney with strong law and motion experience to support a high-volume plaintiff personal injury team.
This position is ideal for an attorney who enjoys legal research, persuasive writing, motion practice, and developing litigation strategy. The attorney will play a key role in advancing cases through effective motion work, discovery strategy, and collaboration with trial attorneys throughout the litigation process.
The practice handles a wide range of personal injury matters, including motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, and other complex tort claims.
Position Overview
The selected attorney will focus on drafting and opposing substantive motions, managing discovery-related disputes, preparing pleadings, and assisting with litigation strategy from case inception through trial preparation.
This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated plaintiff-side litigation while partnering closely with experienced trial attorneys and legal staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and oppose motions for summary judgment and summary adjudication
- Prepare demurrers, motions to compel, motions in limine, motions to strike, motions to quash, and other substantive pleadings
- Draft complaints, responses, discovery motions, and pre-trial filings
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda supporting litigation strategy
- Prepare written oppositions and replies on complex procedural and substantive issues
- Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, experts, and support staff throughout litigation
- Attend and argue motion hearings as needed
- Participate in depositions, discovery planning, and case development
- Manage litigation deadlines and maintain compliance with court rules and filing requirements
- Support trial preparation efforts, including witness coordination, exhibit preparation, and pre-trial briefing
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel
Desired Qualifications
- Active California Bar membership in good standing
- 3+ years of civil litigation experience
- Strong law and motion experience
- Experience drafting and opposing dispositive motions
- Discovery motion practice experience
- Excellent legal research and writing abilities
- Experience taking, defending, or preparing for depositions
- Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and case management skills
