Intellectual Property Manager / Patent Agent
Location: Chicago, IL
Salary: $120,000 - $169,226 + 10-15% Bonus

We are seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Manager / Patent Agent to lead and support intellectual property initiatives, partnering closely with R&D, business leadership, and external counsel. This highly visible role will play a critical part in protecting innovation and supporting long-term business growth.
Responsibilities
- Support development and execution of intellectual property strategy.
- Manage and expand a global patent portfolio.
- Draft and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO.
- Coordinate patent filings and prosecution activities with outside counsel.
- Conduct prior art searches, patent landscape analyses, and freedom-to-operate assessments.
- Manage invention disclosures and patent filing priorities.
- Oversee patent tracking systems and IP databases.
- Manage trade secret programs and intellectual property agreements.
- Partner with technical, business, and legal teams to identify and protect valuable innovations.
- Monitor changes in patent law and advise stakeholders on IP strategy.
Qualifications
- Registered Patent Agent with the USPTO.
- 5+ years of patent agent experience.
- Proven experience drafting patent applications and claims.
- Strong technical writing, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience with patent databases and AI-enabled research tools.
- Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science, or related technical field preferred.
- In-house corporate IP experience is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $120,000 - $169,226
