Maintenance Technician, Industrial
Shifts available:
Mid-shift: 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
2nd shift: 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Position Overview
Join our Maintenance team as a 1st or mid-shift Maintenance Technician responsible for keeping production equipment and facility systems running safely and efficiently. The primary focus of this role is electrical and industrial maintenance, executing preventive maintenance programs, troubleshooting equipment issues, and minimizing downtime to support consistent plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical maintenance and repair on production equipment, control panels and facility electrical systems.
- Execute industrial and preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules and checklists to extend equipment life and prevent unplanned downtime.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical and control system failures to identify root causes and implement effective repairs.
- Respond to breakdowns and emergency repairs on the mid-shift, prioritizing safety and rapid equipment restoration.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, PLC ladder logic and technical manuals to guide maintenance activities.
- Perform routine inspections of motors, drives, conveyors, pumps, boilers and pneumatic/hydraulic systems and document findings.
- Collaborate with operations, engineering and maintenance team members to plan repairs, upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders and spare parts inventory; recommend spare parts purchases as needed.
- Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, and other safety procedures; participate in safety meetings and continuous training.
- Perform basic welding, fabrication and alignment tasks as required to support equipment repairs and installations.
Qualifications
- Required: 3+ years of experience in electrical and industrial maintenance within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Required: Proven experience with preventive maintenance programs and executing scheduled maintenance tasks.
- Required: Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, ability to read electrical schematics and use diagnostic tools (multimeter, insulation tester, etc.).
- Required: Availability to work 2nd shift (mid-shift) on a regular schedule and respond to urgent issues during shift.
- Preferred: Experience with mechanical systems, bearings, belts, gearboxes, and alignment procedures.
- Preferred: Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics, including reading schematics and repairing valves and cylinders.
- Preferred: Experience working with boilers and basic steam system maintenance.
- Preferred: Welding skills (MIG/TIG/Stick) for light fabrication and repair tasks.
- Preferred: Experience programming, reading or troubleshooting PLCs and related control systems.
- Preferred: Strong troubleshooting mindset, good written and verbal communication skills, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Certifications: Electrician certification, industrial maintenance technician certificate, or technical trade diploma is a plus.
- Physical requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, work in confined spaces and stand for extended periods; willing to follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
