Field Service Engineer - Travel Role
Up to 80 Percent Travel | Field-Based Role

Salary: $80,000 to $110,000 per year plus Per Diem and Company Car (And Overtime)

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Service Engineer to provide on-site and remote support for advanced CNC machine tools. This role focuses on maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation while delivering exceptional customer service across a multi-state territory. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, thrives in a field environment, and enjoys building trusted relationships with customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of CNC machine tools at customer sites and via phone support
- Support equipment using industry standard controls such as Fanuc, Mitsubishi, and Siemens
- Create, update, and maintain technical documentation and service records
- Generate and analyze service-related reports, including ad hoc and recurring reports
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and customer service engineers
- Provide training and technical guidance to customer service engineers, particularly on new product lines
- Build strong customer relationships through professional communication and high service standards
- Address and resolve challenging customer situations with a solutions focused mindset
- Follow safety standards, company policies, and work procedures
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in a technical field preferred
- 3+ years of experience troubleshooting and maintaining CNC machine tools
- Strong electrical and mechanical diagnostic skills
- Proven ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and PLC ladder logic diagrams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong customer service orientation
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and changing conditions
- Basic computer proficiency, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization
- Willingness to travel up to 80 percent across a multi-state region by car or air
- Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Fanuc, Mitsubishi, or Siemens controls
- Field service or OEM service background in manufacturing or machining environments
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary of $80,000 to $105,000 per year based on experience (Plus Overtime)
- Per diem provided for all travel assignments
- Company car provided for business travel
