Job description
Position Overview
We are seeking an Engineering Lead, Agentic Execution to lead the development and expansion of next-generation AI-powered automation systems. This role is ideal for a highly technical leader who enjoys solving complex automation challenges while guiding a small, high-impact engineering team.
You will be responsible for improving automation coverage, accuracy, reliability, and scalability across critical workflows. Working closely with Product and Engineering leadership, you will help define technical strategy, drive execution, and deliver innovative solutions that automate complex user actions and interactions. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines software engineering, automation, AI-driven systems, and team leadership.
Must be open to working from either our Los Angeles, CA office or New York, NY office.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers focused on automation, intelligent workflows, and AI-powered execution systems.
- Drive the technical direction and execution of automation initiatives that improve coverage, accuracy, reliability, and scalability.
- Design, build, and optimize systems that automate complex user actions and workflows.
- Develop scalable architecture for automation platforms, browser-based systems, and execution frameworks.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Leadership teams to define priorities and deliver impactful solutions.
- Improve system performance, monitoring, observability, and operational reliability.
- Identify technical challenges and implement solutions that enhance automation success rates and user experience.
- Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies related to AI, machine learning, automation, and intelligent agents.
- Establish engineering best practices, code quality standards, testing strategies, and deployment processes.
- Contribute directly to architecture, design reviews, and hands-on development as needed.
- Drive continuous improvement through data analysis, experimentation, and performance metrics.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated technical leadership experience.
- Experience leading projects or small engineering teams while remaining hands-on in development and architecture.
- Strong background in software development, system architecture, distributed systems, and scalable applications.
- Experience building automation platforms, workflow systems, or intelligent software solutions.
- Familiarity with AI-powered applications, automation technologies, or agent-based systems.
- Experience working with APIs, cloud platforms, and modern software development practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup or growth-stage environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
