Employment Litigation Attorney - Los Angeles, CA
We are a 250-attorney national firm with a reputation for winning complex employer-side disputes - and our Los Angeles Labor & Employment group is growing. If you want a full caseload of high-stakes employment litigation, direct client contact from day one, and a compensation package that reflects your value, this is the role.
What you'll do
- Own employment litigation matters from inception through resolution in California state and federal courts, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour, and PAGA matters
- Draft and argue dispositive motions, pleadings, briefs, and discovery; defend and take depositions - Represent employer clients at hearings, arbitrations, mediations, and trial
- Advise clients on employment law compliance, workplace investigations, personnel decisions, and risk management strategies
- Manage agency proceedings before the EEOC, DLSE, California DIR, and other federal and state agencies
- Communicate directly with clients as their primary litigation counsel and provide strategic guidance throughout each matter
- Collaborate with attorneys across 16 offices to develop litigation strategy and share best practices
- Billable requirements are 1900 hrs.
What you need -
- Active California Bar admission
- Minimum 2 years of employment litigation experience on the defense/employer side
- Demonstrated experience drafting and arguing motions, conducting depositions, and managing complex matters in both state and federal court
- Ability to independently manage an active caseload with competing deadlines
- Excellent legal writing, analytical, and client communication skills
Nice to have -
- Wage and hour class action, collective action, and PAGA litigation experience
- Traditional labor law matters and labor-management relations
- NLRB experience: union organizing, unfair labor practices, representation proceedings, or labor arbitrations
- Investigations before the U.S. Department of Labor or California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement
Pay & benefits -
- Base salary: $155,000-$215,000 depending on experience
- Bonus: Discretionary and billable-hour-based bonus opportunities
