Electrician
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Electrician to join our manufacturing team. The role focuses on installing, maintaining and troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment used in production. The ideal candidate will ensure safe, reliable operation of electrical infrastructure, support production continuity, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain and repair electrical systems, control panels, motors, conveyors and production machinery in a manufacturing environment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults using test equipment and schematics; implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, PLC ladder logic and equipment manuals to perform accurate installations and repairs.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and inspections to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Work with engineering and maintenance teams to modify equipment, implement upgrades and support new product introductions.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, parts inventories and work orders in the CMMS.
- Ensure all work follows lockout/tagout procedures, NFPA 70E safe work practices and company safety policies.
- Train and mentor apprentices and less-experienced technicians; provide clear documentation of repairs and procedures.
Qualifications
- Journeyman electrician certification or equivalent trade license required; active state electrician license preferred.
- Proven experience (3+ years) as an electrician in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of AC/DC circuits, motors, starters, VFDs, control systems and 480V distribution.
- Hands-on experience with PLCs, motor control centers, sensors and industrial automation preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with electrical codes (NEC) and workplace safety standards (NFPA 70E) and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts and respond to after-hours emergency calls when required.
