Electrical Shift Manager - Caster Operations
Steel Manufacturing | Electrical Maintenance Leadership
Location: Indianapolis, IN - Regional Travel
Salary: DOE + Bonus/ Per Diem
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Shift Manager to lead electrical maintenance operations within a high-volume caster environment. This position is responsible for overseeing union electrical personnel, driving equipment reliability, troubleshooting complex electrical systems, and ensuring safe, efficient production operations.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise in industrial electrical systems, a proven background supervising union teams, and the ability to effectively troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise electrical maintenance personnel during assigned shifts.
- Provide technical support for caster operations and critical production equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, automation, and controls-related issues to minimize downtime.
- Support preventative and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with operations, engineering, and reliability teams.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and company standards.
- Coach, develop, and mentor electrical technicians and maintenance personnel.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, and productivity.
- Manage shift priorities and coordinate emergency repair activities as needed.
Desired Qualifications
Technical Expertise
- Strong experience troubleshooting and maintaining DC cranes.
- Extensive knowledge of AC/DC drive systems.
- Experience with 480 VAC power distribution systems.
- Strong PLC and industrial controls troubleshooting capabilities.
- Understanding of instrumentation and calibration systems.
- Experience supporting heavy industrial, metals, steel, casting, or manufacturing operations.
Leadership Experience
- Prior union supervision experience required.
- Proven ability to lead maintenance teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication, coaching, and team development skills.
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Background
- Experience within a steel mill, foundry, metals, rolling mill, caster, or heavy industrial facility.
- Electrical maintenance leadership or supervisory experience.
- Technical degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent industrial electrical training preferred.
