Electrical Engineer

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design, develop, and support electrical and control systems for industrial OEM equipment. The role focuses on control system architecture, PLC programming, motor drives (VFD and servo), HMI development, burner control integration, and electrical drafting using AutoCAD. The Electrical Engineer will collaborate with mechanical, software, and field teams to deliver safe, reliable, and maintainable systems from concept through commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical control systems for OEM machinery, including schematic diagrams, panel layouts, and wire lists using AutoCAD.
  • Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLCs for machine control (design, logic, I/O mapping, and ladder/structured text code review).
  • Integrate and tune motor drives (VFDs) and servo systems for motion control and process optimization.
  • Develop HMI screens and operator interfaces to present clear, actionable information and controls.
  • Implement and support burner control systems and related safety interlocks per industry and regulatory requirements.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation: control narratives, specifications, BOMs, testing procedures, and commissioning checklists.
  • Perform FAT/SAT, on-site commissioning, and start-up support, including diagnostics and corrective actions.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (mechanical, software, manufacturing, field service) to ensure designs meet performance, cost, and schedule targets.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and best practices; participate in design reviews and risk assessments.
  • Provide technical support to sales and field teams, and offer training to customers and internal staff as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Masters or relevant certifications preferred.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in industrial control systems, OEM equipment design, or similar roles.
  • Proven experience with AutoCAD for electrical schematics and panel layouts.
  • Strong PLC experience (programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning); familiarity with common platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent).
  • Experience with burner controls, safety interlocks, and combustion-related systems is highly desirable.
  • Practical knowledge of VFDs and servo drives, including configuration, tuning, and integration.
  • HMI development experience and ability to create intuitive operator interfaces.
  • Familiarity with equipment control systems, machine-level networking, and industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and customer-facing skills.
  • Willingness to travel for commissioning and field support as required.
