Job description
A nationally recognized construction subcontractor is seeking a Construction Estimator to support a wide range of interior and exterior construction projects. This organization delivers comprehensive contracting services across drywall, metal framing, prefabrication, acoustical systems, specialty walls, fireproofing, cladding, and related scopes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for assigned construction scopes
- Review drawings, specifications, bid forms, and contract language to fully understand project requirements
- Coordinate with internal trade departments to assemble complete, accurate estimates
- Analyze material, labor, and equipment costs to support competitive pricing
- Develop bid proposals, budgets, and supporting documentation
- Communicate with clients during the bidding phase regarding scope clarifications or revisions
- Provide estimating support to project teams during early project execution
- Evaluate job profitability, cost risks, and pricing assumptions
- Participate in jobsite visits and pre-bid or project meetings as needed
- Support continuous improvement of estimating accuracy and cost reliability
- Follow company safety standards and participate in assigned project safety plans
Qualifications:
- Ability to analyze drawings, specifications, and construction documents
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Understanding of construction productivity, materials, and cost drivers (or ability to learn quickly)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a team-oriented environment
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently, follow through on assignments, and make sound decisions
