Detailer (Revit | Process Piping, HVAC & Plumbing)
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Detailer to produce accurate, constructible drawings and Revit models for process piping, HVAC, and plumbing systems. The successful candidate will translate engineering designs and P&IDs into detailed shop and fabrication drawings, coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to resolve clashes, and ensure drawings comply with project specifications, codes, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed shop and fabrication drawings and Revit models for process piping, HVAC, and plumbing systems based on engineering input and P&IDs
- Create and manage Revit families, parametric components, and BIM deliverables to project standards
- Perform collision detection and coordination using Navisworks or similar tools and resolve design conflicts with other disciplines
- Interpret engineering specifications, isometrics, and manufacturer's data to produce accurate detailing and material take-offs
- Update drawings and models to reflect design changes, field modifications, and coordination outcomes in a timely manner
- Prepare and maintain drawing registers, revision histories, and as-built documentation
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, fabricators, and installers to ensure drawings are constructible and meet project requirements
- Support procurement and fabrication by generating clear drawings, spool sheets, and BOMs as required
- Participate in design and coordination meetings, providing technical input and feedback on constructability and installation sequencing
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Detailer, BIM/VDC Coordinator, or CAD/BIM technician with a focus on process piping, HVAC, and plumbing systems (typically 3+ years)
- Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit for MEP and piping modeling; experience creating families and project templates
- Strong understanding of process piping detailing, isometric drawings, flange and fitting specifications, and piping codes and standards
- Experience with AutoCAD, Navisworks (or equivalent clash detection tools), and generating fabrication/shop drawings
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, piping isometrics, mechanical layouts, and engineering specifications
- Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines
- Good communication skills and experience working collaboratively in multi-disciplinary project teams
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting, BIM, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- Familiarity with BIM coordination workflows, BIM 360, and common fabrication/software tools is a plus
