Construction Superintendent

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee on-site construction activities, ensure projects are completed safely, on time and within budget, and maintain high-quality workmanship. The Superintendent will lead daily operations, coordinate subcontractors and trades, manage schedules and inspections, and enforce safety and quality standards across residential, commercial, or industrial projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise on-site construction activities, ensuring work aligns with project plans, specifications and quality standards.
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors, vendors and craft labor to maintain efficient workflow and meet schedule milestones.
  • Implement and enforce site safety policies and OSHA-compliant procedures; conduct regular safety meetings and inspections.
  • Develop, monitor and maintain project schedules using MS Project, Primavera P6 or equivalent; update stakeholders on progress and critical path items.
  • Review and interpret blueprints, plans and shop drawings to guide field execution and resolve constructability issues.
  • Manage material procurement, logistics and deliveries to ensure timely availability of equipment and supplies.
  • Prepare, review and process RFIs, submittals, change orders and punchlists; coordinate approvals and closeout documentation.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and quality control checks; document non-conforming work and oversee corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with project management and estimating teams on budgeting, cost control and forecasting to help maintain project financial health.
  • Plan and coordinate heavy equipment, crane rigging and lifting operations, ensuring certified rigging plans and safe execution.
  • Coordinate MEP, HVAC, plumbing and electrical work with trades and BIM/Revit/AutoCAD coordination where required.
  • Oversee concrete formwork, placement, structural framing and steel erection activities; ensure compliance with structural drawings and tolerances.
  • Manage permitting, inspections and contract administration activities with authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Mentor and lead field personnel, subcontractor foremen and site supervisors to promote productivity, teamwork and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Construction Superintendent or similar role on mid- to large-scale construction projects.
  • Demonstrable experience in construction management, site supervision and subcontractor management.
  • Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, structural framing, concrete formwork and placement, steel erection and general trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical).
  • Proficient in project scheduling and planning tools (MS Project, Primavera P6) and comfortable managing budgets, cost control and schedule updates.
  • Experience with RFIs, change order management, punchlist and closeout procedures; familiarity with contract administration.
  • Working knowledge of MEP coordination, HVAC systems, plumbing systems and electrical systems; experience with BIM coordination, Revit and AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Familiarity with construction software platforms such as Procore, Bluebeam and Microsoft Excel for reporting and documentation.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA compliance, site safety management practices and permit/inspection processes.
  • Ability to prepare and review lifting plans, coordinate heavy equipment and manage surveying and layout activities.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills; able to work with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Valid drivers license; certifications such as OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, NCCER or equivalent are preferred.
  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field preferred but not required; equivalent experience will be considered.
