Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to produce accurate, competitive cost estimates and bid packages for K-12, Life Science, and Student Housing projects. The Estimator will collaborate with project managers, design teams, subcontractors, and owners to evaluate drawings and specifications, solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier pricing, develop quantity takeoffs, and maintain estimating databases and proposals using Procore. The role supports preconstruction strategy, value engineering, and schedule-driven bid activities to help win projects while ensuring constructability, risk mitigation, and alignment with client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and bid packages for K-12, Life Science, and Student Housing projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, and addenda to identify scope, constructability issues, and potential cost drivers.
• Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotes; maintain vendor relationships and historical pricing data.
• Build and maintain cost models, detailed estimate summaries, and bid comparison reports.
• Use Procore and other estimating tools to organize estimates, manage documents, and track bid activity.
• Collaborate with project managers, design teams, and owners to support value engineering, constructability reviews, and schedule coordination.
• Prepare and present estimate narratives, budgets, and risk registers for internal teams and clients.
• Maintain and update unit price databases, assemblies, and cost escalation assumptions.
• Support post-bid activities including scope clarification, buyout support, and change order pricing.
• Ensure estimating work adheres to company policies, code requirements, and client expectations, and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Estimator in the construction industry with direct experience estimating K-12, Life Science, and Student Housing projects.
• Proficient using Procore for document control, workflows, and bid management.
• Strong ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and addenda; experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs and preparing comprehensive estimates.
• Excellent vendor sourcing and subcontractor solicitation skills with experience evaluating and comparing bids.
• Skilled in building cost models, using Excel and estimating software, and preparing clear estimate narratives and reports.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with internal teams and external partners.
• Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines and adapt to changing schedule and scope requirements.
• Nice to have: experience estimating Commercial and University projects, and OSHA 30 certification.
