HVAC Service Technician
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Installer to join our commercial HVAC services team. The role is responsible for installing, starting up, and commissioning commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across office buildings, retail centers, schools, and healthcare facilities. The ideal candidate will read blueprints and specifications, install ductwork and sheet metal, set and connect rooftop and packaged units, wiring, and ensure systems operate safely, efficiently, and to code.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints, specifications and work orders to plan installations and coordinate with general contractors and other trades
- Install, assemble and secure ductwork, sheet metal components and support systems per drawings and code
- Set, level, anchor and connect rooftop units, package units (RTUs)
- Install, wire and terminate controls, sensors, starters and related electrical components; perform control system start-up and basic programming
- Perform system start-up, balancing, commissioning, testing and troubleshooting to verify safe, efficient operation
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of HVAC trade school or apprenticeship preferred
- 3+ years of hands-on commercial HVAC installation experience (office buildings, retail centers, schools, healthcare facilities preferred)
- Proven experience with ductwork, sheet metal, piping, refrigeration systems, rooftop units, package units, RTUs, air handlers, split systems and VAV systems
- Skilled in reading blueprints, schematics and technical specifications
- Knowledge of HVAC controls, wiring, starters and basic programming; able to perform start-up and troubleshooting of control systems
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation; ability to travel between job sites
- NATE, HVAC Excellence, brazing/welding or manufacturer-specific equipment certifications are a plus
