Clinical Supervisor - Social Services

Position Overview
The Clinical Supervisor - Social Services provides clinical leadership and operational oversight for social services and mental health programs. This role ensures high-quality, evidence-based care by supervising licensed and non-licensed staff, offering case consultation, developing clinical policies and training, and maintaining compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. The position requires an experienced clinician who can balance direct clinical oversight with program development and staff support to improve client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide regular clinical supervision, consultation, and case review for social services and mental health staff.
  • Supervise and evaluate staff performance, conduct trainings, and support professional development to ensure clinical competence and adherence to best practices.
  • Oversee clinical program operations including intake, treatment planning, documentation, risk assessment, and crisis intervention protocols.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives to ensure compliance with state regulations and accreditation requirements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, community partners, and referral sources to coordinate client care and community-based services.
  • Assign and manage staff caseloads; monitor productivity, outcomes, and service delivery metrics to meet program goals.
  • Provide direct clinical services as needed for complex or high-risk cases and model evidence-based interventions.
  • Serve as a resource for ethical, legal, and clinical decision-making; maintain accurate clinical records and reporting.
  • Support staff wellness and retention through coaching, mediation, and by fostering a positive, inclusive work environment.

Qualifications

  • Current Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in good standing (required).
  • Masters degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field (required).
  • Minimum of 35 years experience providing clinical mental health services within social services settings, including experience with risk assessment and crisis intervention (required).
  • Demonstrated experience in staff supervision, performance management, and clinical leadership (required).
  • Strong knowledge of mental health treatment modalities, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning (required).
  • Excellent clinical documentation, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills (required).
  • Comfort working with diverse populations and in interdisciplinary team environments (required).
  • Nice-to-have: Master of Social Work (MSW) or clinical Social Work background, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or equivalent license, and additional state licensure or certifications relevant to social services and behavioral health (preferred).
