Business Development Manager

Position: Business Development Manager 
Base Salary: $90,000-$130,000
Total Comp: $150,000-$250,000+
Location: Remote field sales for Lower Midwest, Southeast, or Southwest Territories



Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to expand our environmental remediation services portfolio. The role focuses on identifying and winning new projects in contaminated site cleanup, hazardous waste management, and broader environmental services sectors. The successful candidate will combine technical understanding of remediation solutions with sales and relationship-building skills to drive revenue growth and strategic partnerships while ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a targeted business development strategy to grow remediation and environmental services revenue in assigned territories and market segments.
  • Identify, pursue, and qualify new opportunities for contaminated site assessment, remediation design and implementation, hazardous waste management, and related services.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients including site owners, developers, engineering firms, regulators, and consultants to generate repeat and referral business.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling proposals, bids, presentations, and cost estimates that align technical approach with client objectives and regulatory constraints.
  • Collaborate with technical teams (project managers, engineers, field crews) to scope projects, develop solutions, and ensure accurate pricing and resource planning.
  • Track market trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activity to inform business strategy and identify new service offerings or geographic expansion opportunities.
  • Negotiate commercial terms and contracts, manage the sales lifecycle from lead to close, and coordinate with legal and finance teams to finalize agreements.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and stakeholder meetings to raise profile and develop partnerships.
  • Support client onboarding and transition to operations, ensuring clear handoff to delivery teams and monitoring early-stage project performance to secure long-term relationships.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, sales forecasts, and performance metrics; meet or exceed quarterly and annual revenue targets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Business, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CEP, REM, CPE) is a plus.
  • 5+ years of progressive business development or sales experience within environmental services, remediation, contaminated site cleanup, or hazardous waste management.
  • Proven track record of winning and managing complex remediation projects and meeting revenue targets.
  • Strong technical knowledge of remediation technologies, site investigation processes, contaminated media (soil, groundwater, vapor), and hazardous waste regulations (e.g., RCRA, CERCLA, local equivalents).
  • Excellent sales, negotiation, and proposal writing skills with experience preparing commercial bids and technical proposals.
  • Ability to build trusted client relationships, work cross-functionally with technical delivery teams, and translate regulatory and technical requirements into client-focused solutions.
  • Familiarity with environmental permitting processes, risk assessment concepts, and health and safety requirements for remediation projects.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites, regulatory meetings, and industry events; valid drivers license required.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, proficiency with CRM systems and MS Office; experience with environmental data management tools is advantageous.
