Business Development Executive

Business Development Executive - Commercial Interiors & Building Products

Position Overview
We are seeking a results-driven Business Development Executive to grow our commercial interiors and building products business. The role focuses on developing new accounts and expanding existing relationships with architects, designers, general contractors and specification channels. The ideal candidate combines outside sales experience with technical knowledge of tile, stone, flooring and related building products, and a proven ability to influence A&D and specification decisions to achieve revenue targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within the commercial interiors market, targeting architects, interior designers, contractors and specifiers.
  • Manage and grow a pipeline of leads through proactive outside sales activities, cold outreach, networking and referrals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with architects, designers, contractors and distributor partners to drive product specification and project wins.
  • Deliver persuasive product presentations, sample kits and technical support to A&D teams and decision makers to secure specifications.
  • Prepare accurate proposals, take-offs and quotes; collaborate with estimating and project teams to ensure timely, competitive pricing and delivery.
  • Work closely with internal teams (sales operations, product, logistics) to ensure smooth project execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Attend industry trade shows, association events and local networking opportunities to raise brand awareness and generate leads.
  • Track sales activities and opportunities in CRM, provide regular sales forecasts and report on market trends, competitor activity and feedback.
  • Meet and exceed monthly and annual sales targets while managing sales cycle and pipeline effectively.
  • Provide product training and support to sales partners, distributors and internal teams as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, Interior Design or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of outside sales or business development experience in commercial interiors, building products, tile, stone or flooring markets; experience selling to A&D (Architects & Designers) and specification channels strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and developing specification-led projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of tile, natural stone, flooring systems and related building products, including installation methods and performance characteristics.
  • Excellent presentation, negotiation and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence decision makers.
  • Comfortable with frequent customer-facing activity and regional travel; valid drivers license and reliable vehicle required.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), Microsoft Office; familiarity with take-off software, AutoCAD or specification tools is a plus.
  • Self-motivated, organized and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-focused approach; ability to coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver project outcomes.
