Battery Cell Assembly Process Engineer

Title: Battery Cell Assembly Process Engineer
Location: Tucson, AZ, 85756
Salary: $90,000 - $115,000 DOE

As we continue to expand our manufacturing capabilities, we are seeking a Battery Cell Assembly Process Engineer to develop, optimize, and sustain cell assembly processes, drive automation initiatives, improve yield and product quality, and support the successful scale-up of our proprietary battery technology.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Develop, optimize, and sustain large-area battery cell assembly processes, including automated cell assembly, packaging, electrolyte filling, and related manufacturing operations
  • Establish and maintain pilot-scale and production-scale cell assembly lines, driving process capability improvements, yield enhancement, and reduction of manufacturing variation
  • Design and execute process development, optimization, validation, and equipment qualification activities to ensure reliable, repeatable, and scalable manufacturing performance
  • Collaborate with production, quality, equipment engineering, and other cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, improve product quality and consistency, and analyze failure modes and performance outcomes
  • Create and maintain SOPs, machine recipes, PFMEAs, and other process documentation; monitor SPC metrics and corrective actions; and train technicians on equipment operation and maintenance best practices

What You Need for This Position

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered
  • 2+ years of process engineering experience within a manufacturing environment, with battery cell manufacturing experience and strong mechanical aptitude preferred
  • Hands-on experience supporting automated assembly equipment and high-tech manufacturing processes, with the ability to drive process improvements, troubleshoot equipment, and optimize production performance
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and leadership teams.
