Associate Attorney - Civil Litigation (Tampa, FL)
Our Tampa office is adding a civil litigation associate who wants real courtroom time - not document review. From day one, you will handle general liability, premises liability, and product liability defense matters from inception through trial, mentored directly by seasoned trial attorneys who are genuinely invested in making you a better litigator.
What you'll do
- Manage a defense litigation caseload from intake through resolution, including trial preparation and courtroom appearances
- Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda, and discovery with minimal supervision
- Conduct depositions of witnesses, clients, and experts across a range of civil liability matters
- Argue motions and attend hearings, building an active presence in Florida state and federal courts
- Develop case strategy collaboratively with partners, contributing your own analytical perspective on complex matters
- Interview witnesses and retain experts; negotiate directly with opposing counsel toward favorable resolutions
- Cultivate direct client relationships from early in your tenure, supporting long-term account stewardship
What you need
- Active membership in good standing with the Florida Bar
- Minimum 2 years of civil litigation defense experience (general, premises, or product liability)
- Demonstrated ability to manage cases independently from pleadings through discovery and motion practice
- Strong legal research and writing skills with a track record of clear, persuasive work product
- Ability to commute to and work full-time in-office at the Tampa, FL office
Nice to have
- 3-5 years of civil litigation defense experience
- Prior first-chair or second-chair trial experience
- Established relationships with Florida defense bar or insurance carrier clients
- Experience with premises liability or product liability specifically
Pay & benefits
Base Salary: $95,000 - $120,000+ depending on experience
- 18 days PTO plus paid parental leave
