Summary


GENERAL SUMMARY:

Responsible for ensuring Grand Island Regional Medical Center’s (GIRMC) adherence to regulatory requirements, advancing patient-centered care, supporting medical staff services, and overseeing volunteer and customer care programs. This role serves as the organization’s HIPAA Privacy Officer, leads the patient grievance process, facilitates provider onboarding, and drives service excellence initiatives. The coordinator fosters a culture of compliance, continuous improvement, and exceptional service for patients, families, staff, providers, volunteers, and visitors while upholding GIRMC’s mission, vision, beliefs, and core values.


PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.

2. Coordinates compliance and privacy activities, including policy support, education, and monitoring processes.

3. Documents and assists with investigation of compliance and privacy-related incidents.

4. Supports leadership in maintaining regulatory readiness and adherence to established standards .

5. Coordinates the patient complaint and grievance process in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements.

6. Facilitates follow-up and communication with patients and families to ensure resolution of concerns.

7. Supports implementation of initiatives to improve patient experience outcomes.

8. Coordinates provider onboarding and supports medical staff-related processes.

9. Facilitates communication between providers, leadership, and internal departments .

10. Maintains provider documentation and supports engagement activities.

11. Coordinates volunteer program activities including recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, and recognition.

12. Supports customer care and guest service initiatives to enhance patient and visitor experience.

13. Collaborates with departments to promote service excellence and support program operations.

14. Maintain data systems, reports, and tracking processes to support operational effectiveness.

15. Coordinates scheduling systems, documentation, and program metrics for assigned areas.

16. Identify and supports opportunities to expand and improve workflows and program performance.

17. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

18. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.

19. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Maintains clinical competency as required for the unit including but not limited to age-specific competencies relative to patient’s growth and developmental needs, annual skill competency verification and mandatory education and competencies.

2. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.

3. Knowledge of HIPAA, CMS regulations, and healthcare operations.

4. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

5. Ability to perform crucial conversations with desired outcomes.

6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel and medical staff.

7. Ability to problem solve and engage independent critical thinking skills.

8. Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information.

9. Ability to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision.

10. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business, or related field required. Experience in healthcare compliance, patient experience, or volunteer coordination preferred.
